Ron Pickering Memorial Fund Grants 2017 Awarded

Almost 200 talented young athletes are to receive support from the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund (RPMF) in 2017, following a record number of grant applications.

Among them are the following Welsh Athletes:

Hannah Brier (Swansea Harriers) - Sprints

Joseph Brier (Swansea Harriers) - Sprints, 400m

Melissa Courtney (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers) - Middle distance

Kieran Grimwade (Cardiff AAC) - Hammer

Jake Heyward (Cardiff AAC) - Middle distance / XC

Bethany Moule (Neath Harriers) - Javelin

Sarah Omoregie (Cardiff AAC) - Multi event

Lucy Davies (Pembrokeshire Harriers) - Steeplechase / XC

Jac Palmer (Cardiif AAC) - Hammer

Owen Smith (Cardiff AAC) - 400m

James Tomlinson (Pembrokeshire Harriers) - Discus

Adele Nicoll (Birchfield Harriers) - Shot Put

Bethan Rees (Cannock & Stafford AC) - Javelin

Jay Morse (Cardiff AAC) - Discus

Emily Wright (Bristol & West AC) - Long Jump

The RPMF, founded in memory of the former coach and BBC broadcaster, helps a number of the country’s top athletes make the transition from junior to senior level by providing financial support for equipment, specialist training and travel.

Many of the British Olympic athletics team members of 2008, 2012 and 2016 had received support from the Fund at some stage in their careers, including all of the London 2012 and Rio 2016 individual Olympic medallists.
