The Welsh Athletics National Awards nominations closed on Friday 1st September with a record number of nominations. There were over 300 nominations recieved across all categories which look to recognise; clubs, groups, coaches, athletes as well as many volunteers from across the country for their contributions in supporting the development of athletics in Wales.
The National Awards nominations now closed, our attention turns to the Welsh Athletics Service Awards, with the nomination process open until 15th September 2017. The Service Awards include the Award of Meritorious Service and Award of Honour look to recognise special achievements or long term service at club, regional, school, district schools, university or at national level for Welsh Schools or Welsh Athletics.
Award of Meritorious Service and Award of Honour:
For a Meritorious Award to be made for service to athletics in Wales, a minimum of 15 years of active contribution must have been completed. For the Award of Honour to be made for service, a minimum of 25 years service must have been completed or current Meritorious Award recipients must have completed a minimum of a further 10 years of active contribution to the sport.

Who can nominate?
Any individual with a link to athletics in Wales can make a nomination. Anyone planning to make a nomination should complete the Nomination Form as fully as possible, and return it to the Welsh Athletics Office by Friday 15th September. As much detail and clear evidence of the required length of service or the required number of major games attended would be greatly appreciated.
