This weekend will see our brightest and best multi-eventers travel to Athlone in Ireland for the annual Indoor Invitational Pentathlon. This year is a departure from the norm with the event making up part of the centenary celebrations of Irish Schools away from its’ traditional home at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.
The team flies out from Bristol on Friday afternoon, then makes the 1.5 hour coach journey to the overnight accommodation, Saturday is competition day, with the team returning to Bristol on Sunday.
16 athletes have been chosen following performances at the recent Joint Combined Events Championships held at NIAC. The only change from the original team selected sees Taiya Jones (Stanwell) come in for Sarah Omeregie (Howells College). Sarah has unfortunately failed to recover from a slight injury suffered during the selection event and we wish her a speedy recovery. Taiya will provide experience following her great performance in the lower age grouping last year.
