The Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and insurance to lead running based fitness sessions for people over 12 years of age. The course focuses on understanding and overcoming barriers to participation in running and enables you to deliver fun and safe sessions for multi ability groups. This qualification will provide you with insurance to lead a group within the limits of the course content. Leadership in Running Fitness is part of the Coaching Development Pathway and is a prerequisite course for the Coach in Running Fitness qualification.

 

Course format: 

  •    4 Online Modules (to be completed before the Face-to-Face session) 
  •    8 Online Mandatory Safeguarding and First Aid Modules.
  •    3 hour practical Face-to-Face session.

Candidates must engage in tasks and activities throughout the practical session and demonstrate improvement in engagement following any discussions with course staff. Candidates not engaging within all aspects of the course are at risk of not gaining the qualification at the end of the process.

What else do you need once you have booked on your course?

 

To complete your license, you'll need to have a valid DBS check cleared with UK Athletics. You can check your DBS status and complete the process by logging into the Welsh Athletics Member Login, following the instructions below:

 

1. Click the link for the "myATHLETICS portal"

2. Insert your username (URN)

3. Once you have logged in you will see your personal details section. At the bottom of the first section shows the current status of your DBS. 

4. Click on the appropriate link to update your DBS. Follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Upload a passport style photograph.

 

When UK Athletics have received an electronic copy of your DBS certificate, and you have completed the online Safeguarding Modules and your photograph has been uploaded, your licence will be produced and sent out via UKA within 4 - 6 weeks.
