Registration - Registration will be at the Sailing Club at Eglwys Nunydd Reservoir, Margam (NOT at the TATA Sports Club) from 9.45 am - 10.45am, near the race start. The Reservoir Gates will be open from 9.30am
This is a Road race of approximately 6 miles. The course will be two laps of the reservoir. The Intention is to split the race again - ladies first at 11.00am, men a few minutes later. The current plan is to run the same way round as last year – a clockwise loop of the reservoir – but it my be windy so come prepared. Please be aware of strong gusts and run well over to the left away from the edge of the res.
Entry Fee - £2 for athletes registered with Welsh Athletics (or relevant athletics body) - £4 for unregistered athletes. You will be asked to show your Welsh Athletics affiliation card or £4 will be charged.
Minimum Age - 17
There is some parking at the sailing club (approx. 50 cars) but it is on grass. Also the reservoir gates will be shut from approx. 10.45am for the duration of the race so cars will not be able to leave until the course is clear of runners. There is also roadside parking for a few cars just before the res gates, a few spaces just inside the res gates and there is parking at the crematorium. Please share cars wherever possible.
1. There will be a finish funnel in operation so runners remember to stay in order when you cross the finish line.
2. Afterwards please stay clear of the finish area and let the timekeepers do their job.
3. Also do not warm down around the res – we only have permission to use the land for the race itself.
4. The wearing of earphones is forbidden under UK Athletics rules so any runner seen wearing them will be disqualified.
HEALTH & SAFETY AT CROSS COUNTRY EVENTS
Athletes are advised that Health and Safety regulations recommend that you should examine the course for potential hazards before competing. The course has been checked by the organisers and a risk assessment conducted. The Race Referee will have inspected the course and declared it suitable for use. Any competitor who has concerns about a safety aspect on the course should bring it to the attention of the organisers and/or the Referee immediately.
If the issue cannot be resolved satisfactorily the competitor will be advised not to participate in the event. As with all West Glamorgan Cross Country League fixtures, athletes will be running in remote areas and First Aid may not be immediately accessible. Athletes should take this into consideration before entering the event.
First Aid cover is available on site courtesy of the British Red Cross. Any situation arising that requires First Aid treatment anywhere on the course must be reported immediately to First Aid Personnel.
All participants are reminded of their duty of care to other athletes who may be in distress.
