Introduction to T6
The T6 Throwing Circle was established in 2004 in order to give Wales’ best junior throwers the chance to improve their throwing performances in high quality six throw competition, in all four throwing events. The format has proven to be highly successful, producing a host of personal best performances at every meeting, plus T6, club and National Records.
Membership of T6 is aimed at U17, U20 and U23 throwers to encourage progressive development through these age groups. Exceptionally, U15 athletes who achieve the U17 entry standard with an U17 implement may also qualify, of course, coach development is of equal importance and targeted coaching events will be run from time to time under the T6 banner. Meanwhile, all throws coaches are welcome to attend T6 events, with or without athletes. To maintain quality of competition, only throwers who have already achieved the qualifying marks in each event will compete. This means that the age/gender mix will be different in each event. All valid performances will count for ranking purposes.
T6 Qualification Criteria
Membership of The T6 Throwing Circle is by invitation only. An invitation will normally be given to an athlete who:
1. Has achieved the appropriate T6 qualifying standard for the athlete’s current age group and event within the current or previous season.
2. Is resident in Walesor Is otherwise eligible to represent Wales in Athletics
3. Is registered with Welsh Athletics for competition
4. Even if over 23, has previously qualified for T6 as an U23 and has achieved the appropriate U23 T6 qualifying standard in the current or previous season.
