The 33rd running of the International Snowdon Race, is regarded as one of Europe’s toughest endurance challenges, the 10 mile race involves running from the edge of Lake Padarn in Llanberis to the highest summit in Wales and England and back down.
This year’s event again includes International teams from Wales, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Italy and Spain, which should make it another competitive race.
The Welsh squad this year include a few debutants in: Joseph Stanley Charles (Clwydian Hills) Ian Hughes (Shrewsbury) plus Iain and Sarah Ridgway (both Eryri).
Looking to make his mark this year will be Eryri’s Richard Roberts who will be hoping to break the 70 minute barrier for the first time, while Matthew Gilbert (Wrecsam Tri) has been in impressive form of late, and should do well, and then we have Matthew Collins (Cardiff) who has always ran well in the race.
We have a local Eryri triangulate in the women’s team, with Australian born Sarah Ridgway making her debut in the Welsh colours, and should do well along with club mates Andrea Roberts and Jenny Hemming who have run the route on numerous occasions.
