Paul Walker chose the best way to celebrate his first appearance in a Welsh vest in an international competition. The Pole Vaulter, invoved in the Vienna International in Austria, set a new Welsh Record with an amazing 5.43m leap that smashed the previous record (5.42m) by Scott Simpson.
In the same competition, Elaine O'Neill clinched second place in the 60m final thanks to two consistent performances - 7.50s in the qualifying round and 7.49s in the final.
1500m runner Stephen Davies finished 4th with a time of 3:45.56 after a tough race in which he fought well to battle his way back from the bottom of the field.
