The National Development Squad (NDS) aims to assist athlete-coach pairs who have the potential to contribute to the relevant U18 & U20 age group internationals in 2009 and future Welsh International representation.
The National Development Squad will meet on Sat 8th November 2008 for a one day programme and in spring 2009 for a weekend programme. The general day format will be:
10:30 – Arrive NIAC
11:00 – Welcome & Introduction
11:15 – 5 Rings practical workshop
12:30 – Lunch (Water & Fruit provided – bring your own sandwiches)
13:15 – Event Group theoretical & practical workshops
14:30 – Break
14:45 - Event Group theoretical & practical workshops continued
16:45 – Day summary
17:00 – Finish/Depart
Athletes have been invited to the National Development Squad based upon achieving the U18 & U20 International Selection Guidelines (ISG) in the 2008 Outdoor Season.
Athletes who have not reached the guideline may also have been invited based on their performance profile, showing rapid development and consistent performances close to the ISG during the 2007/2008 season.
The coaches of invited athletes are automatically invited to attend the NDS and it is the responsibility of the athlete to inform Welsh Athletics of their coach and to invite their coach. An athlete’s name may appear more than once on the invited list due to achieving the ISG in more than one event.
