On what was expected to be a fast course, not many times lived up to expectations on this very warm October day. A narrow start caused a few accidents at the start, but then the pace picked up once athletes had manouvered the twists from 1km to 2km. Running for Wales Michael Johnson had a superb run to finish 14th in a personal best of 30:11. Chris Davies, who led until halfway finished in 30:17 after getting a stitch at 7km. Marc Hobbs was happy with his 30:40 after having a few easy months due to a virus. Sullivan Smith and Daniel Gurmin were disappointed with their times. Unfortunately 17 year old Simon Lawson who was hoping to run faster than his amazing 30:51 in the Cardiff 10k last month, ran all the way with an achilles injury and finished well down the field. The women ran pretty close together with Dinah Cheverton just 3 seconds ahead of Anna Scally. Again a disappointing summer for Dinah after illness, she ran 37:54 so is on the way back. Tammy Lewis-Jones who has had many personal bests in the last couple of months had a disappointing run while 18 year old Gemma Leahy ran a good race in 38:30, her first race for six months since injury. Although not running for Wales, Simon Jones had a superb personal best to finish 8th in 29:46 while Matt Janes who has been laid low with a virus for a few months also had a good run in 30:32 despite falling heavily at 1km.
