Many outstanding performances led to Wales winning the inter area match against the North, South and the Midlands in the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k on Sunday, 25
th November .
A favourite race for many Welsh athletes, almost perfect conditions led to five personal best times and an overall 3rd place for Matt Janes of Bedford. Matt had a superb run and was rewarded for his gutsy performance with his first sub 30 minute time. He was followed by Richie Gardiner who is marathon training for London. Ian Williams also ran a personal best after a few months of illness and injury this summer. Owain Matthews, wearing a Welsh vest for the first time also had a personal best of 31:00. Gwyn Owen also ran well.
In the womens race Clare Martin, having run on the track and country for Wales for many years has now moved onto the roads and ran an expected personal best of 35:53 while Emma Parry ran a personal best of 36:40. Good runs also for Tammy Lewis-Jones and Dinah Cheverton.
