Portsmouth 10 Mile Road Race

Gale force winds and rain slowed times again this year for the UK's premier Great South Run Portsmouth 10 Mile Road Race Sunday, 28th October The Welsh team fell apart in the week leading up to the race with Richie Gardiner deciding not to run and Tracey Morris, Gwyn Owen and Martin Rees all going down with flu in the last couple of days.

An excellent debut over 10 miles by Matt Janes in 50:56. Having lost a minute into a headwind in the last two miles along the seafront, he would surely have been so close to breaking 50 minutes in his first 10 mile race. Nathaniel Lane had a good run in 53:01 but struggled in the last couple of miles while thanks must go to Richie Bullen who was brought in just the evening before the race to make up a team.

On the womens side, Anna Scally recorded a personal best of 62:56 while Ann Thomas and Dinah Cheverton also had good runs for the conditions although all lost time in the last two miles as we watched the waves come over the sea wall.
