Mark Hollinshead has been re-appointed to the post of Chair of
scottishathletics for a further two year term, following the recent completion of the recruitment process.
Hollinshead, the Managing Director of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail is a member of Giffnock North AAC and recently fulfilled an ambition to run the five World Marathon Majors (Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York) races in a four-year time span.
He joined the Board of scottishathletics in 2003 as a non-Executive Director with responsibility for Marketing and was first appointed Chair in November 2005.
His re-appointment comes on the eve of the decision for the 2014 Commonwealth Games that could present athletics with the unique double whammy of a home Olympic and Commonwealth games within a seven year span.
Mark Hollinshead said:
“The 2014 games will without doubt become a catalyst to inspire a generation of athletes to perform and compete at the highest level. As a sport we will aim high and seek to gain 100 per cent representation in every event. That is our goal.”
