Unstoppable Barry leaps to new Welsh Record

The first UK Women's League match of 2009 proved to be a successful day for Sara Barry, who soared to a new personal best and Welsh Record in the final round of the Triple Jump competition with a leap of 12.75m to secure her Cardiff AAC team maximum points in the event.

On a cold and blustery day, the wind speed held at a legal +1.6m/s; the Sean Power-coached athlete was delighted with her performance: "I am really pleased to jump so well early in the season. It is a significant improvement on my lifetime best". Sara's performance also equalled the Wales Commonwealth Games standard for Delhi 2010, which rounded off a very successful afternoon.
