Martin Rees broke the British 3000m record at the first open meeting of the year in Swansea on Wednesday, taking 32 seconds off the current record. Martin was aiming for the World record of 9:02 but finished 10 seconds outside with 9:12. On a cold windy evening so early in the season bodes well for his summer preparations of aiming to break as many British and World master 55 records as he can.
Next on Martins list is the Great Manchester Run 10k on 18th May where he will again at least aim to break the British record and hopefully the world record which currently stands at 32:27, a time well within his capabilities
