With this weekend's Welsh Senior Championships fast approaching, we focus on some of the country's top athletes that will be action on Friday and Saturday at the Cardiff International Sports Stadium.
Gold Coast Commonwealth Games bronze medalist in the 20km Race Walk, Bethan Davies (Andi Drake; Cardiff AAC), will step down in distance this weekend to compete in the 3k Race Walk. Bethan has already had a very busy summer; after taking bronze on the Gold Coast she travelled to China to compete at the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships.
After taking some time to recover and get a solid block of training in, she was back in action at the UK 20km Race Walking Championships in Leeds, where she took victory to secure her spot on British Athletics' team at the European Athletics Championships in Berlin next month. Following her victory in Leeds, Bethan was back on the track in Birmingham two weeks ago to defend her British 5km Race Walk title.
