Building the foundations for Throws & Jumps

This weekend saw the piloting of a throws and jumps development day at NIAC with 38 athletes and 11 coaches gaining first hand invaluable experience from working with top national coaches. The session is part of Welsh Athletics ongoing commitment to developing both athletes and coaches across disciplines and regions.

The interactive sessions were aimed at Under 15, 13s and 11s athletes and their coaches in East and South Wales, and were put on by jointly development officers Ryan Spencer-Jones and Hannah Pretty.

Further sessions are planned for early summer, and will look to continue to build a positive mindset and community of athletes and coaches. Thank you to all who attended.

In attendance were:

  • Stephen Bailey, National Jumps Coordinator and National throws Coordinator
  • Coaches were John Mcfall, Adele Nicoll , Lucy Griffiths – Throws
  • Jumps – Francis Baker, Steven Boyles and Owen Cheshire.
  • Fundamental movements specific to the Throws and Jumps were covered by GB U23 athlete Jac Palmer.
