Bronze delight for Breen and McLoughlin

Olivia Breen and Jenny McLoughlin won a bronze medal in the 4x100m T35/38 relay, where they finished third together with Bethy Woodward and Katrina Hart.

Breen drove the opening leg before handing in to Woodward. Hart ran leg three before a tense handover with McLoughlin, who finished the race behind Russia and China in a time of 56.08s, a new season best for the British team.

Beverley Jones, competing in her fourth Paralympic Games and the only Welsh athlete competing in a Final in the morning session, finished seventh in the Shot Put F37 final. Her best throw recorded a 9.85m distance in a competition won by China's Mi Na with a World Record-breaking 12.20. She will return in the Discus competition on Thursday.

Tracey Hinton competed in the first round of the 100m T11 but a season best time of 13.43 was not enough to advance to the next round.

In the afternoon session, Stephen Morris fought hard in the 1500m T20 final, but his time 4:02.50 didn't warrant any medal as the qualified lifeguard crossed the line sixth.
