Aussie relay team to hit Welsh Athletics International

The green and gold thunder from Down Under, the Australian Relay team, is the latest addition to the star-studded lineup of the Welsh Athletics International taking place on July 18th.

The Aussies will take part with the 4x100m relay team in order to give the squad a vital run out in Europe - their last chance at training in a competitive environment before they enter the Olympic Stadium in London.

The team will come from their training base in Tunbridge and will face up a St Kitts and Nevis team headed by sprinting legend Kim Collins. The meeting also includes athletes of the stature of Kerron Clement, a double Olympic medallist and world indoor record holder, Nijel Amos, number 2 in the world over 800m, Welsh Olympians Brett Morse and Gareth Warburton and many other stars unveiled daily.

Tickets are at an affordable £5 and are available via TicketlineUK.

The Welsh Athletics International event is part-funded by the Welsh Government. First Minister, Carwyn Jones commented:

"This is a unique opportunity for Wales to host some of the world's top
track and field athletes competing just days away from the start of the Olympic Games. For those who failed to get tickets to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, this is a chance to see world class athletes competing here in Cardiff , some of whom may well become Olympic medallists in the coming weeks."
