Morse rues missing elusive Final

Welsh Olympic hopeful Brett Morse (Vestienn Haffsteinsson) was left to rue missed chances as he failed to make it out for group A into the final, with a best throw of 58.71m.

"It was strange because I actually threw really well. The first round I completely missed it – it tore off my hand, the second round it went 63m but I smacked it out of the sector which is quite strange for me, I never do that.

“That would have probably made the final. In the third round I just pulled away a little on the left side. My technique up to a point was very good, but maybe I was a little eager to throw far.”

The unlucky performance sees Brett having to wait until Tuesday's final selection to know his fate about the Olympic Games.

For Rhys Williams, instead, destiny is still a matter of his own making as he will go for glory in the 400m hurdles final later tonight. The Cardiff star will face GB rival Nathan Woodward in what could be a decisive clash for the third spot in the London 2012 team.
