Emerging 400m star Owen Smith, who debuted in a GB vest at the Loughborough International, is joining our blogging team at this most important of times.
Hi!
This is my first blog for Welsh Athletics so let's see how this goes!
It has been a busy weekend with the Loughborough International and it is going to be a few even busier weeks now, with the Welsh Diamond Jubilee Championships and the UK Trials for the World Junior Championships coming up.
All training is aiming to peak for these events and I am looking to reach some good times. Everything is going to plan in training, I'm hitting my target times which is what me and my coach aimed for. With the Welsh Senior League coming up this weekend it is a great chance of a run out for the 200m for Deeside AAC.
Everything is coming fast now, with all the major competitions coming in June. I'll keep you all updated on competition and how training is going.
With the Olympic Torch reaching Faenol on Monday, we were treated to perfect weather in Bangor as we put up the Welsh Athletics five-event challenge. After a good day handing out signed pictures of me and Gareth Warburton to the young athletes who took part in the event, it was back to the reality of the track at night!
With the Welsh Champs coming up on the weekend, it will be a week of preparing and tweaking up to be ready for the event. With the weather looking promising, it should be a good weekend of athletics! I'm hoping for a good time, it should be a good weekend and I'm looking forward to it!
I'll keep everyone updated later on this week on how things are going. If anyone want to follow me on twitter its @owensmith400!
