The Llandudno 10 Mile Road Race took place on Sunday 17th June in breezy conditions but noticably calmer than at the innaugural event last year. The race is commonly known as Wales' top 10 Mile Road Race and this year incorporated the Welsh Championships for the distance and the 9th round of the 2012 Run Wales Series.

Large crowds lined the course which took athletes around the scenic Victorian Seaside town and offered encouragement to the 600 finishers.
Despite the conditions, Matthew Rose (Buckley) and Steven Boynton took up the front running and began to stretch the field out along the promenade in the early stages.
Behind the leaders, Cardiff AAC's Nat lane started cautiously and caught Wrexham AC's Daniel Weston at around the 8 mile mark.
Steven Boynton went on to win the race in 53.15 followed by Matthew Rose who took the Welsh title, with Daniel Weston battling his way back into third overall and taking Silver in the championships. Nat Lane took third in the championships and fourth overall.
In the ladies event Wrexham's Emma Parry had her own battle with Louise Blizzard (Belgrave Harriers). Louise proved a little too strong for Emma on this occasion and went on to win with Emma taking the Welsh title in second overall. Sally Wilder (San Domenico) and Kelly Morgan (Aberdare Valley) took second and third in the Welsh Championships.

The Run Wales Series aims to improve competition at Welsh Road Races and several of the athletes who made the trip confessed that the Run Wales points had been their motivation. Nat Lane now moves into the lead in the 2012 standings with Ed Donovan (Les Croupiers) coming into third. Sally Wilder increases her lead in the ladies category with Kelly Morgan retaining her second place and Jacqueline Brace (Bridgend AC) now in third.
The Brecon 10 Mile Road Race on the 5th August is the next fixture in the series which culminates at the Cardiff Half Marathon in October.
