The funeral of the 1963 Welsh Cross Country Champion Bob Roath of Walton AC will take place at Vale Royal Crematorium, Shurlach Lane, Davenham, Nr. Northwich, CW9 8RA on Monday 4th February at 2.30pm.
His win on Newbridge Fields, Bridgend was one of the narrowest on record as he won in the same time as runner-up Norman Horrell who was seeking to win the title for three successive years.
Bob was runner-up three years earlier behind David Richards and represented Wales 3 times in the International Cross Country Championships, which were the forerunner of the current World Cross Country Championships. At the time the home nations ran in these championships as individual teams instead of the current arrangement where a British team takes part.
