Griffiths and Hulson lead the Welsh in Armagh


Strong Welsh teams will contest the Armagh International Road Races on Thursday evening.

The men's 5km race has become known as one of the top events in the world held over the distance. Women compete over 3km on the same multi-lap circuit of the Mall in the small County Town.

Wales will compete against teams from England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and the USA. The race also includes a selection of elite athletes from across Europe.

Charlie Hulson (Liverpool Harriers) took victory in 2016 with Dewi Griffiths (Swansea Harriers) third last time and dipping under 14 minutes with 13.58. Both athletes will be looking for victory and will be joined in the Welsh men's 'A' team by James Hunt (Cardiff AAC).

The women's team will include Cari Hughes (Swansea Harriers) who was ninth at the Spar European Cross Country Championships in December and Jenny Nesbitt (Worcester AC) who has previosuly competed for GB & NI on several occasions and has a 5,000m P.B. under 16 minutes. Mel Wilkins takes the final spot in the A Team.

B team's featuring some of Wales' top junior athletes will also be competing.
