The Cardiff AAC athlete threw a new personal best of 14.69 metres in the Shot Putt. Another personal best followed in the High Jump with a jump of 1.99 metres. The 400m was the final event of day 1 and Curtis ran a time of 52.21. This was a day 1 personal best of 3950 points for Curtis to put him in a strong position going into the second day.

Day 2 started with the 110m hurdles where Curtis clocked a time of 15.30, next up was the Discus where he threw a distance of 43.08 metres. Curtis achieved a personal best in the Pole Vault after Vaulting a distance of 4.40 metres. The Javelin was next and with a throw of 51.79  metres, Curtis went into the final event with a good chance of hitting the Commonwealth B standard of 7500 points. The final event was the 1500m and Curtis needed a time of 4:42.80 in order to hit the standard and with his personal best of 4:40 being set 7 years earlier, he knew how hard it would be to hit the standard.
