Payton Jordan Invitational, Stanford

Dewi Griffiths finished 14th in the Men’s 10,000m “A” race in a time of 28:16.07. Not only was this a PB for the Swansea Harrier but a Commonwealth Games (CWG) “A” Standard time. This time puts Dewi 6th on the Welsh all-time list and 2nd in the UK ranking this year.

In the Women’s 5,000m “B” race, Melissa Courtney (Shaftesbury Barnet) finished in 4th place clocking a fantastic time of 15.28.95, another PB and another CWG “A” Standard for the Welsh contingent. This effort moves Melissa to 2nd on the Welsh all-time list and ranks her 3rd in this year’s UK ranking. Eli Kirk finished 13th in the same race clocking 16.06.87.

British League Division 1, Basingstoke

Cardiff AAC were the victors at this event with the Swansea Harriers finishing in 2nd place.

There were some great performances from the likes of Sam Gordon (Cardiff AAC) in the 100m, Owen Smith (Cardiff AAC) in the 400m, Kieran Grimwade (Cardiff AAC) in the Hammer Throw and Alex Coomber (Cardiff AAC) in the 800m.

UK Women's League Division 3, Wigan

North Wales 5km Championships 

The North Wales 5km road running championships were held under clear blue skies along the traffic-free promenade at Ffrith beach, Prestatyn on Sunday. In a thrilling finish to the men's race, Przemyslaw Tomczak (Buckley), affectionally known as Max, outsprinted Eryri's Paul Wathan to win in 16:21, with Wathan a second behind. Cybi's Gethin Jones, returning after injury, placed third in 16:33. The women's race saw local girl Amie Bagnall, the former Welsh 10 miles champion, win in 19:01, with 15 years-old Rheagan Edwards (Deeside) second in 19:06 and Eryri's Gemma Morgans third in 19:14. For Bagnall, it was a double celebration, as she received the Sherion shield after being chosen as North Wales best under
