Welshman David Omoregie (Benke Blomkvist) will be competing in the 60m hurdles at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia tomorrow (March 3rd) as part of British Athletics’ 31 strong team.
Omoregie will be racing alongside his training partner, number one ranked 60m hurdler, Andy Pozzi and David King (James Hillier).
With a personal best time of 7.63 set in January at the Welsh Championships, Omoregie will be looking to up his game again this Friday.
The world record for the 60m hurdles currently stands at 7.30 and was set a remarkable 23 years ago, on the 6th of March by the legendary Colin Jackson. The closest anyone has come to it is the 7.33 clocked by the 2008 Beijing Olympic champion Dayron Robles of Cuba. It will be interesting to see if anyone can come close to this record at this year’s European Indoor Championships.
