Welsh Athletes due to compete at World Para Athletics Championships

The World Para Athletics Championships will commence today in London with the first event being the Women’s F37 Category Shot Put. There are 8 Welsh Athletes who have been selected as part of the 50 strong Great Britain team.  Aled Davies will be one to look out for, the 2016 Paralympic F42 Shot Put Champion will be looking for another strong performance to match his heroics in Rio last summer. Another Paralympic Champion is amongst the team, Hollie Arnold is a gold medal contender after winning the F46 women’s Javelin Gold medal last summer in Rio. Despite only being 20 years old, Sabrina Fortune already has a Paralympic medal to her name after clinching Bronze in the F20 Shot Put last summer; she is certainly going into the competition as a likely contender to make the podium.  Jordan Howe has medalled at numerous European Championships and is currently ranked the fastest in the world within his category over 100m, so he is also likely to be in contention to medal.

Sabrina Fortune (Antony Hughes / Ian Robinson) – F20 Shot Put

Jordan Howe (Christian Malcolm) – T35 100m

Kyron Duke (Anthony Hughes) – F41 Shot Put

Olivia Breen (Aston Moore) – T38 Long Jump, 100m and 4x100m relay

Rhys Jones (Christian Malcolm) – T37 100m

Stephen Morris (James Thie) – T20 800m, 1500m and 5000m
