Goldie Sayers to appear at WSAA Cup & Plate Finals

As part of the ongoing Welsh Athletics Inspired by 2017 programme, British Javelin Record Holder Goldie Sayers will be attending and presenting medals at the Welsh Schools Cup and Plate Final taking place on Thursday 13th July.

Goldie had an outstanding career which saw her compete at three Olympic Games, claim Olympic Bronze (in 2008) and also compete at five IAAF World Championships. Her personal best of 66.17m, which she set in 2012, is still the current British record.

WSAA’s Steve Jones commented; this is fantastic news for Welsh Schools and we are delighted to be welcoming Goldie to this championships. She is an icon and role model within the sport and her presence will be a real inspiration for the aspiring athletes that are part of this year’s event.

The WSAA Cup and Plate Finals take place on Thursday 13th July at the Penlan Arena, Brecon. First events start at 12 noon.
