Tom Roberts (Meirionydd) and Gemma Morgans (Eryri Harriers) were crowned North Wales Regional Trail Running Champions at Llyn Alwen’s Fairy Freckled Cow 11k event on Sunday 2nd July.
Racing conditions were almost ideal for the scenic anti-clockwise route around the lake being dry and sunny with warm temperatures. Tom Roberts led from the off being trailed by Paul Wathan (Eryri) but while Paul was able to make ground on the climbs, Tom was able to open up a significant gap on the long downhill section after the steepest climb of the race after 6.5k to pull away and earn the win in a course record time of 38:16 (38:33) followed by Paul in 39:13 and Richard Shearer (Wrexham ACC) 39:52.
