The Morton Games were held in Dublin on the 12th of July with a number of high quality fields assembled. There were some strong performances for Welsh Athletes out in Ireland, especially on the endurance side.
Elliot Slade (Daryll Maynard) of Cardiff AAC produced a strong performance in the men’s 800m A race, setting a season’s best of 1:51.22 to finish third.
Melissa Courtney (Rob Denmark) continued her fine form to finish second in the women’s 1500m, The Shaftesbury Barnet athlete clocked a time of 4:07.02. It’s been a good few weeks for the Brunel University student after setting a new personal best of 4:05.82 at the London Anniversary Games a few weeks ago and also placing fifth at the British Championships.
Tom Marshall had a strong performance too by taking over a second off his personal best to clock a time of 3:58.31 in the mile. Tom has set new personal bests of 1:48.68 for 800m and 3:37.45 for 1500m in the past month, which demonstrates what an incredible season the former Tulsa University Student is having.
The Stand-out performance of the event came from Dewi Griffith's who moved up to Fourth on the Welsh-all time rankings for the 5000m, The Swansea Harriers Athlete set a huge new personal best of 13:33.60 to finish fifth in the race. This was also a Commonwealth B Standard which goes with his A standard which he has already set 3 times this year for 10,000m.
