Eryri's Bronwen Jenkinson not only won the Welsh Mountain Running Championships at Llanberis on Saturday 12th October, but also the British Fell Racing Championships. Early heavy rain showers with thick cloud on the summits made it tough going for the competitors in the Maesgwm Muddle 14k/850m British & Welsh Championships event with even a brief shower of hailstones! Carl Bell (Calder Valley) won the race in a time of 1:26:47 with Gareth Hughes (Mercia) the first Welsh finisher and Welsh Champion in 6th place overall in a time of 1:30:18, The next Welsh finisher being Michael Corrales (NWRRC) in 13th place overall with a time of 1:36:17. Bronwen finished 29th overall in a time of 1:42:31 to also secure and retain her British U/23 title and become the youngest ever winner of the British Championships. Eryri's women finished 2nd team to Mercia on the day making it a very good day all round for Bronwen.
A special thank you to Mike Blake for organising the event and all the event marshalls who braved the unseasonal weather! plus all the event helpers.
