This coming weekend (April 29thand 30th) sees the annual combined events competition at Millfield organised by the Somerset Schools and County Association. As part of the ongoing collaboration between Welsh Schools and Welsh Athletics many of our brightest and best multi eventers will be heading “over the bridge” to test early season form. Although not part of the representative programme this will give another opportunity for athletes to test themselves in a competition environment.
The event is always well supported had a great turn out last year from the junior Welsh combined eventers and hope that this year will see an increased entry.
Entry for the Millfield competition is not restricted to those who competed so successfully at the Schools International held in Athlone, Republic of Ireland last December. We are intending to use this meeting as part of the ongoing junior combined event development programme. Good luck to all athletes entered and the thanks of WSAA again go to Nigel Lewis, his hard work behind the scenes is proving invaluable in encouraging our young athletes to participate and develop abilities to run, jump and throw.
