On behalf of the team at Welsh Athletics, I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
2016 has been an incredible year for athletics in Wales, with more members, more coaches and more athletes winning GB vests than at any time in our history.
Hosting the IAAF / Cardiff University World Half Marathon Championships was a unique and memorable experience and provided the theme for the 2016 Welsh Athletics Annual Report.
As we reflect on 2016 and look ahead to 2017, our thoughts turn towards the Summer of World Athletics, when the London Olympic stadium will host both the World Para-Athletics Championships and the IAAF World Championships.
These events will provide a massive boost to the profile of athletics and our challenge is to harness the excitement across our athletics networks.
Our focus will therefore turn towards supporting schools, clubs and running groups across Wales, improving the way in which we communicate and on giving our elite Welsh athletes the best chance of success at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
We can be very proud of our achievements in 2016 and can also look forward with great excitement to the next chapter.
Diolch i chi am eich cyfraniad at ein llwyddiant. | Thank you for your contribution to our success.
