Welsh Throwers Dominate at UK School Games
Team Wales produced some excellent performances in the Sainsbury’s UK School Games held at the Olympic Stadium on Wednesday 9th May. Welsh throwers were in particularly fine early season form, collecting 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Leading the way was Adele Nicoll (Andy Brittan) who set a new Welsh U17 Girls record with her Shot performance of 13.71 metres.
Also collecting gold medals for their Discus performances were Awen Rosser (Paul Jensen), 40.04 metres and Matthew Williams (Ian Robinson) 43.85 metres. Zoe Dakin (Paul Jensen) threw her way to a silver medal in the Hammer with 44.22 metres and Connor Laverty (Barry Edwards) also collected a silver medal in the Shot with 16.12 metres. The Javelin events provided Team Wales with two bronze medals from Aled Price (Ed Thompson) throwing 52.88 metres and Tasia Stephens (John Davies) throwing 40.24 metres.

Many of the medal winning performers will be competing at their Regional Championships on the weekend (12th and 13th May) before competing in the Welsh Diamond Jubilee Championships in Cardiff on June 2nd – 4th.
