Good conditions at the Virgin London Marathon paved the way for some great performances in the 2016 Welsh Marathon Championships.
Andrew Davies (Steve Vernon, Stockport) has been Wales’ top Marathon runner in recent years and took the Welsh Marathon title on Sunday with a solid 2:17.45. Davies had been tracking several other British Athletes, chasing Olympic selection.

Mike Kallenberg (Cardiff AAC, James Thie) ran a new PB of 2:21.38 to finish second, with Russell Bentley (Kent) running 2:26.26 for the bronze.
In the Women’s race Rosie Edwards (Rotherham) took her first Welsh Marathon title with a time of 2:45.04. Jessica Parry-Williams (Les Croupiers) is a former champion but claimed silver on this occasion with 2:50.33. Wrexham AAC's Emma Crowe took bronze in 2:52.53.
Welsh Athletics board member Angharad Mair ran a British age 55 best of 2:57.46 running for the Les Croupiers club.
The Welsh Championships team results saw Swansea Harriers' men claim a Welsh title ahead of Micky Morris Racing Team, with Les Croupiers in third.
The women’s race saw Les Croupiers take victory led home by Parry-Williams. Swansea Harriers took silver and Les Croupiers also secured bronze.
