Below is a step by step information guide to help you understand the process involved to obtain a licence;

1)      Apply for a course

Download the application form; submit the form, passport photograph and full payment to Welsh Athletics prior to the closing date. Bookings can not be made by telephone. Note: Passport quality photos only are acceptable.

Completing the CRB can be done either before or after the course, however a licence will not be issued without one. If you already have a CRB through another organisation this DOES NOT count, CRB disclosures are non-transferable between organisations.

2)      Complete a CRB (UKA)

Please follow the ‘Stages of Application Guide’ by UKA. This guide is available on the website. Important: Please only send the completed form to Athletics Welfare, do not sent to any other address. A CRB Disclosure Certificate will be issued, a copy of your certificate will be sent to both you (the individual) & UKA. Athletics Welfare will then update your CRB status on Trinity.

Note: Please keep the certificate in a safe place, you may be asked by your club or facility to produce this as evidence. Note: the renewal date is 3 years from the date shown on the certificate; it is the individual’s responsibility to keep the CRB up to date.

3)      Application forms sent for licensing

Welsh Athletics send all course attendee forms to licensing after the first part of the course is complete. Note: Applications without a passport photograph or payment will not be sent.

4)      Fully complete the course

Only when you have fully completed all aspects of the course will you be ready to have a licence issued. There are 3 types of licence status;

Red – no course attended, Amber – course incomplete, Green – course fully completed.

5)      Licence produced

Licenses will be posted to the address provided on the application form. Licences are printed once per month by an external company on behalf of UKA. If you move address please notify Welsh Athletics. Note: Licences will not be produced if there is no photograph or a valid CRB is not held. Welsh Athletics do not produce the licences.

When should I expect to receive my licence?

Approximately 4-6 weeks after you receive your CRB Disclosure Certificate, providing all stages outlined above have been completed.

Renewal

A licence will need renewing every 3 years; this is done by renewing your CRB with UKA. Please follow the CRB ‘Stages of Application Guide’ by UKA.

Lost or damaged licences

If you lose or damage your licence and require a new one, a replacement can be purchased for £10, cheques made payable to Welsh Athletics.
