Saturday 21st October saw the staging of the 3rd annual Welsh Athletics Clubs' Conference at the Coldra Court Hotel, Newport part of the #Inspiredby2017 Conference and Awards Weekend.
Clubs from across Wales travelled to engage with the speakers and the networking opportunity that the clubs conference continues to provide.
The day was opened by Welsh Athletics Chair, Carol Anthony and saw the launch of the Welsh Athletics Club Modernisation programme before an engaging line up of presenters took to the stage.
In the morning sessions Mike Lynch, of leading sports consultancy company GB Sport, introduced the new online support portal for clubs before Melissa Anderson, Managing Director of Valleys Gymnastics Academy, share tips for ‘Growing, Sustaining and Developing a Community Sports Club’ sharing the story of the development of the hugely successful VGA Academy.
The afternoon saw, Rich Jones, a Senior Manager at the Premier Leagues Swansea City Community Trust, covered ‘Tips for Building a Successful Club’ offering a vast amount of thought provoking and practical content.
Always a strong feature of the clubs conference are the ‘club workshop sessions and our appreciation must go to; Sam Perrott and Martin Rivers (Run4All Neath), Mark Gold (Cardiff AAC) and Steve Brace (Bridgend AC) for providing insight into club activities and the sharing of best practice.
Finally thnaks must go to all of the clubs that supported the event who will be prioritised during the initial phase of the club modernisation programme.
